Blaklash Pendants
Bula’bula Arts was honoured to work with Troy Casey and Amanda Hayman on the weaving elements for the Blaklash pendants, presented in the exhibition 5th National Indigenous Art Triennial: After the Rain, curated by Tony Albert.
It was especially meaningful to witness the collaboration with the Ramingining weavers, Cecelie Djalarrnami, Evonne Munyngu and Caterpillar (dec.), who were deeply engaged in the process and genuinely loved weaving onto the frames. Seeing their skills recognised and incorporated into such an ambitious work was a powerful reminder of the extraordinary knowledge and creativity held by artists on Country.
Troy and Amanda’s ongoing commitment to working with remote communities and building on existing cultural knowledge creates opportunities for genuine collaboration, shared learning and meaningful outcomes. Their approach honours the expertise of artists and makers
while fostering connections that extend far beyond a single project.
