In line with Bula’bula Arts’ commitment to supporting meaningful cultural activities for Ramingining’s youth, we partnered with the East Arnhem Youth Model (ALPA) tofacilitate the construction of a traditionaldugout canoe.Senior cultural leader and key facilitator Peter Gämbung guided the project, sharing thestory of his grandfather’s vision for the specific tree chosen to become the canoe.

The project created a powerful opportunity for intergenerational learning, with Peter leadingyoung men and children through each stage of carving the canoe.
