Jeanette Malibirr was born on her Father’s Country of Nyalyindi and now resides in Ramingining, Arnhem Land. Having spent her life locally, she is deeply connected to her homeland and its history.

Jeanette creates woven fibre works that reflect the natural bush environment surrounding her. She weaves primarily to support herself and her family, producing small-scale pieces that speak to everyday life on Country. When she dedicates focused time to her practice, her skill and careful handling of materials are especially evident.

Jeanette comes from the Malibirr clan, a family of artists strongly represented at Bula’bula Arts. Creativity runs through her family, and she works alongside relatives who are also respected artists.
