Originating from ceremonial body designs and evolving to paintings on barks with ochres and later canvas the painters from Ramingining are highly regarded and recognised throughout the world, with works held in major collections both nationally and internationally. Using only traditional colours: red ochre, yellow ochre, white (clay) and black (charcoal), the paintings hold and tell stories of deep cultural significance for Yolngu people as well as engaging broader emotional response and understanding because of authenticity, high quality aesthetic and technical execution and mastery of cultural storytelling abilities.

Please note in the description whether the painting is on “stretched canvas” or “canvas”. If it is on stretched canvas, the painting is already on a frame, ready to hang. If it is on canvas, then you will need to get this stretched or framed for hanging.
