Malibirr People in Ceremony

This painting depicts the Malibirr people in ceremony after the passing of a well respected elder. Situated at the crossing where the river runs into the big swamp known as Murwangi. The Malibirr people are dancing, playing yidaki and clap sticks while they wrap the Yolngu elder in string from Kurrajong and Banyan trees as part of their ceremonial practices.
